Can you believe that I’ve been blogging for a year? Because I can’t.
This is also my 150th post, which means that I’ve averaged (about) 3 posts a week – whew. That’s a lot of writing.
This year has been great and while I haven’t always gotten the feedback I’d like, I’ve had so much fun updating.
You may have noticed some changes to the blog and I’m pretty excited about them. My previous layout just didn’t really suit anymore so I’ve opted for one that works better.
I’ll also be changing the content slightly this year.
I started this blog in order to blog my way out of an entry level position and while I love doing $*!+ Commentators Say (I refuse to stop that feature because it’s just too freaking funny) I’ll concentrate more on economics-related topics. In fact, I’ll start an “series” about sports economics – sort of a 101 for people who aren’t familiar with it.
My ideas about how to improve sports teams and leagues will also be a focus. I know my mother doesn’t approve of this (sorry Mom!) but I recently attended a webinar that told me to share my best ideas. I’ve been holding back a bit but I won’t anymore. Get ready for idea overload. Particularly marketing and sponsorships – those are the areas I have the most ideas.
I will also start doing more about sports articles I’ve read and talking about my research more. Books I’ve read will also appear on the blog – if the topics are helpful to you guys. I’m currently reading “The Elusive Fan” for instance, which has given me a TON of ideas. What can I say? I love learning – especially when it’s industry relevant.
Also, there is a VERY exciting change about to happen in my life (it’s already happening – which is why my updating has been sporadic at best – but I won’t jinx it!) that may completely change this blog for the better (fingers crossed) so be on the lookout for that.
And, as cheesy as it is, here’s a thank you to all of you – I’ve gotten more followers that I ever thought I would and love talking to and interacting with you guys. You’re good people J
Get ready for another year of sports blogging – I’ll try my best to make it fun for you!
