This has been such a chill week. I always forget how much I love the holidays until they are upon us. My most recent mission? Getting my boyfriend to watch Christmas movies – we’ve been watching one per night for the past week (ever since I found out he’s never seen ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ or ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ – madness? Right?) which has been great. I’ll be heading to Canberra to spend Christmas with his family (shout out to Paolo, Mary and Kelly!) so I’ll see you all in a few days!
Top 5 Songs For The Underdog – Gabrielle Lucivero, Babes Dig Balls. I’m a fan of music mixes so this was a clear front runner for Best Of The Week. The fact that it includes ‘All Star’ by Smashmouth is the cherry on top.
Heat Follow Wade in Partnering With Li-Ning – Craig Davis, Business and Pleasure of Sports. This is a genius idea that I’m shocked no one has thought of before (even me!). The Miami Heat are partnering with Chinese company… which is smart particularly because of the NBA’s desire to expand into the Asian market even more. Baby steps, guys.
Future Talent gives elite trading card a grassroots spin – Chris Lesley, Sports Business Insider. This is adorable. Most Americans know about trading cards – some are worth millions of dollars. But in Australia, they’re not so big. So this company decided to put KIDS on the trading cards! They upload their picture and buy some cards and BAM. They are awesome.
Best and Worst Sports Stocks of 2012 – Kurt Badenhausen, Forbes SportsMoney. Let me tell you that I will be spending my spring semester working out why the best were successful and why the worst were… not so successful. After reading the AFL financial reports, duh.
Four Future Trends in Sports – Jake Duhaime, Sports Networker. You honestly think that as someone who wants to work in sport I would ignore as article about future trends? I THINK NOT. And I think Jake does a great job with these. I would have included something about fan involvement… but hey, that’s just me.
Any massive stories I missed? You just let me know.
